REPRESENTATIVES FROM VARIOUS MINISTRIES OF BURKINA FASO MET TO ASSESS THE INSTITUTIONAL LEARNING NEEDS FOR A GREEN AND INCLUSIVE ECONOMY
As part of PAGE’s work in Burkina Faso, a workshop on inclusive green economy learning needs brought together about fifty representatives from ministries, academic institutions and civil society in Burkina Faso.
Led by the Centre for Social and Economic Studies and Research, the workshop was a part of the Burkina Faso government’s ambition of upscaling the delivery of green economy learning through national education and training institutions. At the workshop, a report on the capabilities and gaps for robust green economy education in Burkina Faso was validated by stakeholders from various ministries, academic institutions and civil society. The study showed that there is enormous opportunity for green economy training and learning in Burkina Faso, including in the agriculture, livestock, forestry, water and sanitation, energy, mining, finance, transportation and tourism sectors.
The report will be finalized at the end of July 2018, and from it, an action plan on national green economy learning strategies will be developed.
Additionally, the workshop presented a study on the opportunities for green jobs, and green job development in Burkina Faso. Together, the reports will form the basis on which capacity development activities will be developed and implemented in the country.
