Jiangsu Province

Jiangsu Province, located on China’s eastern coast, is rich in water resources but faces challenges such as high population density, environmental degradation, and reliance on heavy industry.

Jiangsu has shown strong commitment to a green economy by fostering high-tech industries, promoting energy saving and resource efficient production and consumption models, the eco-redlines of conservation zones, and enhancing policy monitoring and evaluation of green development progress. As one of China’s major industrial hubs, it was the first province to release a Provincial Plan on Ecological Civilisation Construction (2013-2022), targeting all industrial parks to meet national eco-park standards by 2022. Policy guidelines along the Yangtze River economic belt further support green transformation in heavy industry. Its 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025) and Vision 2035 prioritize circular economy, sustainable infrastructure, digitalization, and harmony with nature.
