Kyrgyzstan mountain landscape and road

The Kyrgyz Republic, a landlocked nation in Central Asia, is endowed with rich natural heritage and vast mountainous landscapes. Its economy is driven by agriculture, extractive industries, hydropower, services, and construction, yet faces serious threats from land degradation and desertification. Committed to inclusive and sustainable growth, the government set out its vision in the long‑term National Development Strategy 2040, which emphasizes integrated policies balancing social, economic, and environmental priorities. To advance this vision, it launched the five‑year National Development Programme 2018–2022 and the Green Economy Programme 2019–2023, focusing on green energy, agriculture, industry, low‑carbon development, sustainable transport, tourism, waste management, and natural ecosystems.
