Rofyanto Kurniawan graduated from Bandung Institute of Technology in 1995 majoring in civil engineering. Starting his career in the Ministry of Finance, he was a project analyst for infrastructure development at the Directorate General of Budget. His task is to prepare and allocate budget for road, bridge, and electricity projects. Continuing his career in the Fiscal Policy Agency, he became financial sector analyst specializing in project financing. In 2009, as the Deputy Director of the Center for Macroeconomic Policy part of his job is to formulate macroeconomic framework for the budget planning. He holds MBA degree from Nanzan University and doctoral degree from Universiti Sains Malaysia. In January 2012, he was appointed as the director of the center for budget policy in Fiscal Policy Agency. His tasks and responsibilities cover formulating the budget account including energy subsidy policies.
